Prohibitionists prefer to hide behind their lies

Pete at Drug War Rant points us to an interesting post by Jacob Sullum at Hit and Run on how difficult it is to find a speaker to defend the war on some drugs. You can't really find one unless they making money on prohibition. As I recall Loretta had that problem at her debate. The only person they could get to go up against her was a campus cop that agreed the war was misguided.

It's pretty much down to the profiteers like Walters and his ONDCP lackeys, Souder and Barthwell to defend this senseless waste of tax dollars. And they'll speak but they won't debate. Pete challenged Mr. Walters ages ago and he's still waiting for a response.

See the thing is, in an actual debate these folks might be called to upon to produce some actual facts and they can't do it. All they have is half-truths at best and more usually, outright lies.
