Ready or not

I heard nothing about it last night so I was surprised to wake up this morning to -- yes -- some snow. Just a dusting, but enough to cover the cars and stick to the rooftops. It was pretty, the sparkly kind of white stuff and the trees were covered in glittering jewels of cold clinging water drops as the sun did its best to beat back the first signs of winter.

It's all gone now, save for the residual tiny ice crystals kept alive in the swirling gusts of arctic wind that kicked up since. They won't last long. [graphic]
