Small haul evokes big talk from Bush

This is interesting. Bush is concerned that Guyana is becoming a hub for drug smuggling and has pledged your tax dollars to fight this scourge.
[Government spokesman] Bullen said the United States would continue helping local narcotics police build capacity to fight the drug trade before the "situation gets out of hand."
Hmmm, what did he mean by "continue?" I don't recall hearing of any US interdiction program there before this - have you? And the evidence that this is a major problem?
British police last year intercepted a shipment of 260 pounds (120 kilograms) of cocaine concealed in hollowed out timber logs from Guyana. Seven people were arrested.
Give me a break. A bust of this size would barely make the news in the US. Major hauls are in tons, not in a couple of hundred pounds, which begs the question, "What is Bush's real interest in Guyana?"
