LEAPs AND BOUNDS

While I'm on the subject of LEAP, founding member Jack Cole released a positive progress report.

Last year LEAP speakers made over 400 presentations to professional, civic, educational, and religious groups in Canada, Central America, Europe, and across the United States.

....In a little over one year LEAP went from five founding members to nearly 1,000 members with over 50 speakers living in 29 of the United States and five other countries. All LEAP speakers must be current or former drug warriors--police officers, judges, prosecutors, corrections, parole and probation officers--we even have former DEA and US Customs agents as speakers. This year we expect to make somewhere between 1,200 and 2,000 presentations.

These are the kind of 'cops' that give law enforcement a good name and this organization deserves support. Read the whole mission statement and decide for yourself but this paragraph alone sold me.

LEAP's immediate goal is to achieve a membership of thousands of law enforcement officials representing all of the many countries detrimentally affected by current drug policies. The impact on the media and policy makers would be enormous if thousands of members of law enforcement banned together to declare they were against the continuation of drug prohibition.

It's costs nothing to register as a friend and the form allows you to offer an opinion on their work.
