What were they thinking?

Behold, the new mascots for the Olympics to be held in England. Wenlock and Mandeville made their debut yesterday.

Yikes. They look like mutant Teletubbies. Apparently they're supposed to appeal to children, who will then be inspired to get their parents to give the Olympics money, or something like that. If I was a kid, I think I would be terrified of those cyclops eyes. Actually, I find them a little scary as an adult.
