Emery Update

Loretta is posting the latest as it rolls in. Michele Kubby reported earlier today from the scene, that bail for Emery was set at $50,000 and he is free pending his extradition appeal and will be allowed to continue his political activities with BCMP. CBC.ca has further details and links to background material. Blogging from Vancouver, Mycos has some additional thoughts on the matter.

On a related note, Cannabis Coalition points out that the Canadian government not only allowed Emery to operate without incident for nine years, but the government's agency Health Canada, advised medical marijuana patients to purchase their seeds online. Copies of letters sent to MMJ providers are here and here.

Meanwhile, in other developments, the mayor of Vancouver. Larry Campbell, has been called to serve in Senate. Truthfully, I'm not sure what this means exactly, in the greater scheme of Canadian politics, but I understand it's rather huge and although not directly related to the Emery busts, is a subtle message of sorts to the Americans. Campbell is a known and vocal supporter of drug policy reform.
