Power hungry pot growers

This is interesting. Since Canada passed legislation protecting the privacy of electricity consumers, 85% of the grow-ops (estimated to be between 10,000 and 15,000 in the GTA) are now paying for the electricity they use to power their operations. The only reason they were stealing it to begin with was to avoid detection.

Sounds like a win-win for the utility companies. They no longer have to be snitches in order to get paid for their product and they're making a ton of money on the grow-ops. One small example of how marijuana cultivation benefits the economy.
